Cody McMahan, a Waco native, earned his undergraduate degree in Bioinformatics at Baylor University. He went on to further his education at University of Texas San Antonio Health Science Center with a Masters in Biotechnology. Following his love for science and desire to help others through medicine, he attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where he met his beautiful wife. Dr. McMahan completed his residency training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston serving as Chief Resident. During his time in residency he gained experience in various hospital settings and outpatient settings. After residency graduation, he passed his boards and has been a board certified psychiatrist through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology since 2017.
He returned home to Waco immediately following residency and joined Ascension Providence DePaul Center, where he worked in inpatient and outpatient psychiatry for 7 years. During this time he was Wacoan’s Best of Waco winner for 2019 and 2020.
Dr. McMahan is intrigued by the complexity of the human mind and loves providing physical healing through emotional strengthening. He is passionate about continuing to medically serve the Waco community and beyond by offering psychiatry services through telemedicine as a way to increase access mental health services.
He is currently able to provide outpatient medication management and non-emergent psychiatric care to patients over the age of 18.
Dr. Cody McMahan enjoys all things Baylor Bear sports, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family. In his spare time, he also enjoys speaking with the pre-medical and pre-dental undergraduates at his alma mater Baylor University.
